Boulders Beach

SANParks Boulders Beach:

Swim with the African Penguins!!!

Home to a colony of endangered African penguins, Boulders Beach offers a rare opportunity to observe these charming birds up close The beach is known for its calm waters, protected by large granite boulders, making it an ideal spot for swimming, especially for families with young children. Surrounded by fynbos vegetation and dramatic rock formations, it provides stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere.

Boulders Beach, previously a public one, now falls under S.A. National Parks and there is a daily entrance fee payable on arrival.

South African’s pay – R50 per adult (12 years and older) and R25 per child.

International Citizens pay – R215 per adult (12 years and older) and R105 per child.

South Africans are required to provide proof of SA ID to qualify for the local rate.

Foxy Beach:

Located adjacent to Boulders Beach, Foxy Beach falls within the SANParks Reserve and the penguins can be viewed from a boardwalk without disturbing them.

The Simon’s Town coastline is dotted with smaller, lesser known beaches like Windmill Beach, Fisherman’s Beach and Franks Beach, each offering its own charm and a break from the crowds. The beaches are pet friendly and famous for their natural beauty, crystal-clear waters, and unique wildlife. Here are some highlights:

Windmill Beach:

This sheltered bay which is within easy walking distance from Bosky Dell is a quiet, local favorite. Tucked away among the granite boulders just off the main tourist path. Known for its calm sheltered waters, its a hub for cold water swimmers seeking rejuvenation and for kayakers who drift in from the deeper seas to enjoy the serene bay.

Free divers and snorkelers are drawn to its vibrant underwater world, where marine life thrives in the kelp lined shallows.

Fishermans Beach:

A small easily accessible gem visible from the coastal road near Froggy Fam. Known for its natural simplicity, it features a sandy shore with occasional beach breaks which are gentle enough for beginners yet offer just enough energy for an exhilarating ride! Despite its somewhat exposed nature, it does offer a tranquil spot for those seeking a more low-key seaside experience.

Franks Beach:

Tiny and intimate, this lesser know stretch of sand is perfect for those who enjoy solitude. A serene retreat where you might even spot Cape Clawless Otter’s darting among he rocks or playing in the shallows.

JUST 2 KM FROM BOSKY DELL

Simonstown

Simonstown is just 2 km from Bosky Dell. Get there in 3 minutes by car or in 20 minutes on foot! A beautifully preserved Victorian town for you to explore.

Browse the art shops, clothing boutiques and vintage stores.
Enjoy the gorgeous old buildings, many of them very well preserved.

Meander down to the Harbour for fish and chips or treat yourself to a boat ride to Cape Point or Seal Island.

If you’re adventurous, go sea-kayaking or learn learn to dive.

Eat out at one of the many fabulous restaurants.
